One Mom's View of work-from-home companies

So another year has arrived, and with it will come our fourth child, and many, many more diapers to buy. In a fit of desperation, I have decided it is time to bring in a second income, and I am setting out to learn all that I can about work-from-home companies. I've spent many nights up with the babies, so I've seen my share of infomercials, and I've been (momentarily) taken with the glamour and promise these internet-based companies have to offer. I've taken surveys that have so far only earned me gift cards, and others that have earned me nothing but spam and "sweepstakes entries." I've been a mystery shopper, which in truth can be a bit fun, but is overall time-consuming and very tedious. Basically, I want to find something with a little more practicality, and a lot more reliability. I've had it with waiting for an email to take a survey or shopping job that eventually turns out to be reliant on joining "free offers" in order to get "paid" or cost me 3 hours of my time and fuel to earn a measly $5. I don't want to get rich quick, but I also don't want to work for peanuts. This is my mission:
1: to find a source of (combined) income that I can put towards the Diaper Fund,
2: that I can do from home while taking care of the kids
3: that doesn't cost me money upfront (or require my own funds to sustain)

Is it impossible? I guess I am about to find out...
