I love free stuff. Who doesn’t, right? Well, my new mission is to scoop up as many freebies (or nearly free, anyhow) as possible. With four kids, a mortgage, a car, and a new kitchen to pay off, I am out to score as much as possible for as little as possible. I have seen those extreme couponing specials on TV, and I secretly envy how they have mastered the art of getting something for nothing. I swear, every time someone mentions the idea of couponing, my husband shoots me a look that lets me know he can see that glint in my eye. Maybe someday…
Online coupons
I never head to the mall or check out online without hitting up my favorite coupon printing site first. (If you have never used retailmenot.com, you are missing out!) Whether we order a pizza for delivery, buy shoes online, or want to head to the bookstore, that site has almost never failed. (Tip: Always type in the name of the store you are planning to browse and it will show any online or printable coupons available.) No need to sign up or opt in, although “liking” their Facebook page will send you daily updates with hot deals! Why wait for your favorite stores to email you coupons when these are instant, relevant, and often much better! Don’t ever hit the check-out button until you’ve checked for discounts and free shipping codes.
I can’t even tell you how many amazing deals I have found this way. The really fun ones are the free-item-with-any-purchase coupons I have printed out and redeemed in my favorite body and bath chain. Buy something for $1, and walk out with delicious shower gels and lotions in the latest scents. They even offer samples totally free sometimes, so checking back really pays off. You can’t beat the rush that only comes with scoring something so delectable and not paying a cent for it.
Online freebies
Recently, I have been searching for freebie deals online, and to my surprise, there are so many that I would actually use and enjoy. If it doesn’t require me to actually do anything but give my address, I sign up for the offer. My theory is simple: Ask for as many offers as possible, and soon enough, they will be pouring in daily. I can see it now… I pull the little mail door open, and I am showered with tiny mascaras, soaps, and other goodies to glorious to even imagine. Is this likely? Of course not. But who isn’t mystified by the idea of samples being shipped by the truckload, and having them magically end up on their doorstep? Sigh. If only…
So to all the companies out there with freebies to offer, look out. I’m going to take you up on it, and clean you out for all you’re worth!
